Hi! We're the Kadaus. We started vacationing in Murphy in 2007 after we won a bid for a family cabin rental during a live auction at our church. Our kids were little and we said, “why not?” We also said, “where is Murphy?” LOL 😉 Well, we had a WONDERFUL week that first summer in 2007!! Horseback riding, caving, train rides, tubing, gem mining, zip lining, fire pits, you name it! And during many subsequent summer and fall trips, we came back to that cabin and others in the area, not only with our girls, but also with extended family, friends, and alone as a couple.
We came to ❤ the Appalachian town of Murphy and our girls came to appreciate getting away from the urban life in Tampa Bay. Murphy is known for its lovely flower-lined downtown, nature Riverwalk and lots of cute shops, eateries, art, casino. It's also central location to spring board to tri-state activities within a 90-minute radius. Plus...two rivers run through the town, the Nottley River and the Hiawassee River. We basically fell in love with Murphy and made it our goal to eventually own a home here.
In June 2020, amid the nationwideCOVID-19 shutdown, we embarked on a journey that would forever change our lives: we purchased our first property, Woods Upon a Time and did a complete remodel, essentially "cabinizing" it from the ceilings to the floors. (Yes, we made up that word.) Intending to renovate it as a family getaway, fate intervened when a major career opportunity altered Dave's vacation schedule. Rather than leave the cabin empty for much of the year, we decided to share it with others like yourselves, to create their own cherished memories. With its cozy 1,100 square feet and expansive yard, "Woods" is the ideal retreat for couples or families with small children.
The following year, we expanded our vision by acquiring the adjacent 4-acre property, which features a picturesque fishing pond accessible to all. Spring brought another opportunity as we acquired Skyview Station, a larger cabin located just a mile away. Its authentic three-level log construction, secluded end-of-road setting, and stunning mountain views captured our hearts, promising an ideal space for larger families to travel together. We renovated "Skyview" to include a game room and theater, catering to the entertainment needs of both teens and adults.
Each of our cabins possesses its own unique charm and amenities. Whether you spend your days exploring or simply relaxing, evenings are reserved for unwinding with movies, fireside chats, or a friendly game of pool. Watch the sunset from the front porch of Skyview or take a leisurely stroll around the tranquil pond at Woods. Regardless of your choice, your stay is enhanced by custom touches, meticulous cleaning, and a dedication to detail. These cabins are more than just properties to us; they're our 'babies,' and we strive to ensure you feel not just welcome, but truly cared for, like family.
